Event Meeting Specialist (EMS) must ensure every aspect of the catering functions at the event is running smoothly and effectively. The ability to troubleshoot, remain calm and deal with problems as they arise is critical. EMS must be able to communicate efficiently to all relevant operating departments in order to fulfill the guest’s ideal event and expectations.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Act as a liaison between Meeting Professionals/Catering Customers and all operating departments to ensure a high standard of organization and guest service throughout all convention and banquet meeting areas.
  • Supervises the catering functions including delivery, setup, refresh and strike in conjunction with the catering coordinators
  • Continually inspect meeting rooms and public areas to assure proper sets and cleanliness.
  • EMS proactively monitors customer functions, spending 95% of each day interacting with meeting professionals and their attendees to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provides daily support to the Meetings & Event Managers and Banquet Managers to ensure effective operation of either department, or any other supportive functions based upon the requirements of the hotel and guest needs and expectations.
  • Reviews all relevant communications to verify the accuracy of room sets and scheduling.
  • Communicates any event changes in a timely manner to operating departments and to the Catering Manager responsible for the group.
  • Attends all pre-event meetings
  • Facilitates communication from one shift to another

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • While working, it will not be uncommon to handle and move large boxes of inventory. Must be able to lift and carry at least 20 pounds.

SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of basic and fundamental standards of Catering and Event Management/Banquet department and general hotel operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and sales related skills.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel and Delphi.
